DANIEL R. FELTMAN

Daniel Ray Feltman was born December 2, 1946 in Sibley, Iowa to Harm Raymond (Ray) and Arlis Reemtsma Feltman. Dan attended Grant Township School until consolidation when all “country kids” went to George Community Schools. He graduated from George High School in 1964 and attended Northwestern College in Orange City until December, 1965. He married his high school sweetheart, Marjorie Ann Klaahsen on January 22, 1966 at Lyon County First Presbyterian Church in rural George. They lived briefly in George and Sibley, Iowa before moving to Paullina in November, 1966 and to their present home in January, 1972.

Dan worked various jobs in his early married life before settling into the life of a long distance truck driver. His travels took him to many places, he met many people and enjoyed the freedom of being his own boss, being close to the outdoors much of the time and seeing many sights in the U.S. and Canada from the cab of a truck. He drove for Halstrom Trucking, Mill Creek Livestock, Pre Fab Transit and Specialized Hauling before working for Den Hartog Industries when ill health forced his retirement in 2007.

Dan was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Paullina. He served as trustee, UPY sponsor, was a member of Shipmates and adult choir. He most recently was serving as co-treasurer for the church. Dan was an original member of Mill Creek Men and was an honorary member of the Paullina Fire Dept. after serving 30 years as a firemen, 5 years as chief. Dan loved the outdoors, crossword puzzles, barns, golden retrievers, especially his best buddy for the past five years, Moose, fire trucks, antiques, cards, especially pinochle, country music, Mexico vacations, fishing and most of all, his grandchildren.

He will be missed by his wife, Marj of 45 years, sons, Brian (Christine) of Paullina, and Greg (Heather) of Sioux Falls, S.D. His seven grandchildren, Jessie, Savannah, Kyle, Madeline, Nicole, Levi and Cody; one brother, David (Sue)  of Waterloo, Iowa one sister, Rebecca (Steve) Brown of Bellingham, WA.; a sister-in-law, Peg Feltman, of Sioux Falls, S.D., and sister-in-law, Marilyn (Craig) Bollinger of Puyallup, WA.; thirteen nieces and nephews; many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Steven and brother-in-law Richard Klaahsen.
