BOYD E. McQUEEN

Boyd Eugene McQueen, the son of Floyd E. and Alma (Dorr) McQueen was born November 25, 1927 on his grandparents’ farm near Remsen, IA. The family moved to a farm near Archer, IA where Boyd received his education graduating from Archer High School in 1945. Boyd began farming in the Archer area until he left to serve his country during the Korean Conflict. He enlisted May 22, 1951 in the Army serving his basic training at Fort Leonard Wood in MO and he was also stationed at Ft. Bliss, TX and Fort Lewis, WA. He was discharged on May 21, 1953. He returned to the family farm. On February 19, 1964 he was united in marriage to Judy Dennis in Spencer, IA. The couple made their home on the McQueen family farm near Archer. He loved the land being able to farm with both his father and son, looking forward to every farming season. This last fall he harvested his 68th crop. He passed away on Friday, February 20, 2015 at the Primghar Care Center reaching the age of 87 years, two month and 25 days.
He was baptized on November 27, 1927 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Marcus and later confirmed on November 30, 1941 at Grace Lutheran Church in Primghar where he was a lifelong member. He loved to spend time with his family, summer vacationing for 45 years “Up North” in Minnesota, playing cards, fishing, gardening, fox and goose in the snow with his grandchildren. He had a never ending love for the Chicago Cubs, and his dedication to the farm, family and friends. You couldn’t find a better provider, grandpa anywhere, always had extra time for his grandkids by attending their many events and activities.
Boyd was active in his church serving on the church council. He was a member of the Russell Post #95 of the American Legion and the Sheldon Eagles Club.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Judy McQueen of rural Archer; daughter-in-law, Dolly McQueen of Sheldon, IA; two grandchildren, Dalton McQueen and Mallory McQueen both of Sheldon, IA; a sister and brother-in-law, Juanita (Sally) and Ron Peterson of Spencer, IA; a sister-in-law, Dee Maxwell of Tullahoma, TN; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, Timothy McQueen on April 27, 2011; parents, Floyd and Alma McQueen; one brother, Wayne McQueen; and his parents-in-law, Jess and Edwina Dennis.

Boyd will always be remembered for his kindness
and generosity towards everyone he met.
